Position Description:

The Business Development Manger will focus on market development and growth through research, development and implementation of strategic plans, and analysis of progress, working collaboratively with all members of the project development group.

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management and/or marketing.

  • 10+ years’ experience in the commercial construction industry. Microsoft Office Suite competency.

  • Experience with various CRM platforms.

  • Experience researching new markets.

  • Advanced writing, editing and proofreading skills.

  • Highly organized and superb task management skills.

  • Excellent multi-tasking capabilities.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Highly proficient in public speaking and presentation preparation and delivery

  • Strong negotiator.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Essential Duties:

  • Research, develop, implement, and track new and existing markets for strategic growth by analyzing trends and key strategic markets

  • Build and develop new relationships with prospective clients to drive future opportunities.

  • Maintain key relationships through direct engagement and industry involvement.

  • Consistently seek new design and industry partner relationships that will create added value through project knowledge and facilitate a more informed decision-making process for partnering selections.

  • Sell, with minimal supervision, the Hensel Phelps offerings persuasively, persistently, and confidently to facility owners.

  • Manages the ongoing sales process, develops relationships, manages the response to, and anticipates customer needs.

  • Utilize applicable sales tools effectively to plan and document progress as well as increase penetration of accounts.

  • Manage assigned Accounts in CRM & Ensures that all information is input and regularly updated.

Salaried positions (project engineers and above) participate in an annual bonus plan, subject to company and employee performance. Salaried employees are also eligible for a company cell phone or cell phone allowance in accordance with company policy. Further, salaried employees also receive either a vehicle or vehicle allowance in accordance with Hensel Phelps’ policies. Based on position location, a cost of living adjustment (COLA) may also be included (subject to periodic review and adjustment).
